How to write a sales intro request

Last updated: March 14, 2025

Follow these guidelines to make your intro request clear and compelling to increase your chances of getting it accepted.

Do’s

  • Be Specific: Mention the target person you want the intro to by name, title, and company (e.g., "Paul Butler, VP of Sales at Acme Corp").

  • Keep It Short: Aim for 2-3 sentences—enough to inform without overwhelming.

  • Include your company 1-liner: Suggest why the intro could benefit the Prospect (e.g., "Orbital accelerates your SMB and mid-market sales motions with next-level data. Better than anything you could get with ZoomInfo.")

Don’ts

  • Don’t Be Vague: Avoid generic requests without details.

  • Don’t Write a Novel: Long requests make people's eyes glaze over—keep it concise.

Hi {Connector},

I loved your recent LinkedIn post! How well do you know Paul Butler, VP of Sales at Acme Corp from 1-10? Would you be willing to make the intro if you know them well?

Here's a quick 1-liner on us: Orbital accelerates your SMB and mid-market sales motions with next-level data. Better than anything you could get with ZoomInfo.

Thanks so much. I appreciate you!
